The motel is built on the site of Lister House, a charming 2-storey Victorian building, housing a private hospital in which Australian war hero Edward "Weary" Dunlop was born. A plaque at the Motel commemorates his birth in 1907. Motel reception incorporates an imposing leadlight door and the verandah features replica iron lace from the old building.
